With just 11 days remaining until Barcelona officially kick off preparations for the 2025/26 season, some players are already getting a head start.

Manager Hansi Flick has scheduled the full squad to report for pre-season on July 13, when medical tests and the first official training sessions will take place. But the first signs of activity at Ciutat Esportiva have already begun.

Christensen Back on the Pitch Early

According to Mundo Deportivo, Danish defender Andreas Christensen has cut short his summer break to begin solo training at the club’s facilities. The 29-year-old completed an individual session on Wednesday as he looks to hit peak fitness before the squad officially regroups.

Christensen’s decision comes amid uncertainty surrounding his future. Barcelona are reportedly open to selling one of their centre-backs this summer, with Christensen frequently mentioned as a potential departure.

However, the former Chelsea man appears determined to stay and fight for his place, despite a challenging 2024/25 campaign that saw him limited to just six competitive appearances.

Young Talent Also Putting in Extra Work

Christensen wasn’t alone at Ciutat Esportiva. Young midfield prospect Marc Bernal, who made his first-team debut last season, was present as he continues his recovery from a long-term knee injury. Ibrahim Diarra, another promising youngster, also took part in light work after dealing with muscular issues at the end of last season.

Meanwhile, Dani Rodríguez, who is recovering from shoulder surgery, has been visiting the training centre regularly, although he was absent from today’s session.

More Senior Players Expected Soon

Barcelona could soon see more familiar faces returning early. Reports suggest that Christensen’s defensive partner Ronald Araújo is also planning to cut his holiday short and begin training ahead of schedule in the coming days.

With the new season approaching fast, some players are clearly wasting no time in showing their commitment to the club.
