Manchester United head coach Ruben Amorim has acknowledged that Jadon Sancho, Alejandro Garnacho and Antony could still remain at the club beyond this summer, despite ongoing transfer speculation surrounding all three players.
The trio have each been linked with moves away from Old Trafford as United continue reshaping their squad ahead of the 2025/26 campaign. However, Amorim confirmed that if the club’s asking prices are not met, the players will be reintegrated into the first-team squad.
“Some players have to move to make space in the team, others want a new challenge and want a new team,” Amorim told reporters ahead of United’s Summer Series clash with West Ham.
“We are giving them time to think, and if they reach a point where they have to join the team, they will, because they are our players.”
Amorim noted that United’s hierarchy, including CEO Omar Berrada and technical director Jason Wilcox, have set valuation figures for each player. If suitors fail to meet those demands, the players will be expected to remain and compete for a place in the squad.
“I understand maybe other clubs are waiting for the last minute, but they could have a surprise. I am ready to receive the players.
“They will face more competition. If they want to play at the World Cup next year, they will need to play regularly, and I am happy with that. More competition is perfect for me.”
United’s Striker Search Ongoing
While exits remain a priority, United are also working on potential incomings. Despite being heavily linked with a new striker throughout the summer, the club has yet to secure a signing in that position.
So far, the bulk of United’s summer spending has gone toward securing Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo. Amorim, however, is not concerned, suggesting the duo’s versatility gives him flexibility in the forward line.
“Cunha and Mbeumo can both play as strikers. We also have Josh Zirkzee and Rasmus Hojlund. Our focus is to improve the chemistry between them,” he said.
“The new signings are really humble. That is important. They chose to come here despite having Champions League offers. They know what people say about our club but still made the decision to join us.
“We have to be careful when signing players. If I have to start the season with this squad, I’ll be happy. Everyone here wants to be part of this project.”
United’s transfer window remains active on both fronts trimming the squad while remaining open to strengthening where needed. With less than a month to go, the futures of several high-profile players remain unresolved.
