The full-back is finalizing his exit
Héctor Fort’s exit from Barcelona appears to be edging closer after the young full-back missed Friday’s training session, according to reports in Catalonia.
The 19-year-old is not included in Hansi Flick’s plans for the season, but Barça are unwilling to sell him permanently. Instead, the club is focused on securing a loan move that would guarantee Fort consistent playing time and allow him to return more developed next year.
Several clubs have been linked with the teenager, though Diario SPORT reports that West Ham United are currently in the strongest position to close an agreement in the coming hours. Mallorca are also interested, but their pursuit depends on finalizing the sale of right-back Pablo Maffeo to Sevilla, a deal that could come too late with Barça eager to wrap up Fort’s departure quickly.
The move would also ease Barcelona’s financial situation. Offloading Fort temporarily would free enough salary space to register Gerard Martín ahead of Saturday’s La Liga match against Levante, while Oriol Romeu’s expected contract termination is another factor that would help balance the books.
