As Barcelona continue to explore reinforcements for their attacking line, the club has reportedly identified Mason Greenwood as a potential alternative if they fail to land either Marcus Rashford or Luis Díaz.

According to a report from the Manchester Evening News, relayed by Sport, the Blaugrana have revived their interest in the 23-year-old winger following an impressive season with Marseille. Barcelona previously attempted to sign Greenwood from Manchester United a few years ago, but the move never materialized. Now, with the Englishman enjoying a strong campaign in Ligue 1, the Catalan giants are once again tracking his progress.

Greenwood scored 22 goals in 36 appearances for Marseille during the 2024/25 season, re-establishing himself as a dangerous presence in the final third. His consistent form has caught the attention of several European clubs, with Barcelona now among those considering a move.

Contingency Plan for the Wings

Barcelona’s primary targets for the summer remain Marcus Rashford and Luis Díaz, but financial constraints and competition from other top clubs could make those deals difficult to complete. Greenwood is seen as a more attainable option—both in terms of price and availability—should the club need to pivot.

While no formal negotiations have been reported yet, Barcelona’s sporting department is keeping close tabs on the situation as they evaluate cost-effective alternatives to strengthen Hansi Flick’s squad.
